GENERAL MOTORS - EDI CERTIFICATION HOME PAGE |
Welcome to GM Certification |
If GM has identified your company as needing to be setup and certified for EDI transmissions, continue reading this Knowledge Center page. Review all information on this main page, then proceed to your division-specific page to complete certification requirements.
Who pays for this?
- If you direct connect via Covisint, GM will pay for your EDI traffic between your company and GM.
- If you use a third party service, you will be responsible for any charges.
|
EDI Methods |
You may choose to direct connect EDI in-house, or through a third party service.
- In-house
If you choose to do EDI in-house you will need to have a software system and a method of connection. For your connection, you can either direct connect via Covisint Connect to GM's systems, or you can use a third party service provider. This is entirely up to you. If you use a third party service provider you will be responsible for any charges. If you direct connect, GM will pay for your EDI traffic between your company and GM. Once you have your software setup, contact Covisint to begin testing.
Learn More...
Implementation for in-house EDI may be a lengthy process of programming and integrating with your current systems. In this case, you may choose to use a Third Party Service for a time so that you are certified immediately and are able to receive data. Then you can do EDI testing on your in house system when you are ready.
- Third Party Service Provider
If you choose to use a Third Party Service either permanently or temporarily, review the list of services available. After selecting the service you wish to use and signing up with the service, contact Covisint immediately with your selection.
What is a Third Party Service?
A third party service is a company that is already EDI certified and will send and receive EDI on your behalf.

GM Testing Requirements |
